Pre Admission Clinic

The Pre admission clinic is an outpatient service that looks after the needs of elective surgical patients in the pre operative phase while also being actively involved in their case management throughout their stay including discharge planning.

The nurse clinician works autonomously, in collaboration with the surgical and anaesthetic team, to ensure the patient is in optimal health for anaesthetic and is well prepared for their admission. Dependant on various factors, this consultation may take place in the form of a face-to-face consultation or via telephone. You will be notified by letter and/or by phone call by the pre admission clinic clerk as to the details pertaining to their consultation.

Face-to-face consultations should present to the Private Hospital admissions area (turn left after entering the main entrance of the hospital).  All efforts are made to keep to appointment times and it is important to allow time for parking if required.

Patients are asked to bring any relevant medical imaging such as X-rays, all medications, any specialist letters/test results and your completed health assessment (if not previously presented) to the appointment. Patients may require further tests such as medical imaging or pathology so please allow approximately 60-90 minutes for your consultation.
