Hyson Green is a modern 20 bed mental health facility, offering premier facilities including single rooms, single rooms with an ensuite, executive suite accommodation and a separately designed postnatal depression suite. There are also consulting rooms, large dining and lounge rooms, therapy rooms and recreational facilities.

While Calvary Private Hospital delivers excellence in medical facilities and technology, we also recognise the importance of the surroundings in the therapy process.

Throughout, the unit design focuses on a calming, peaceful environment, which maximises the benefit of space, light and natural bush setting. A feature of the hospital is its private and tranquil courtyard, which encompasses a pergola-covered meditation pool. All of the single ensuite rooms incorporate full-height windows, looking out into the surrounding landscape.

Services
Hyson Green offers a diverse range of inpatient, day patient and specific day/evening programs. These holistic programs are designed to meet the needs of people with generalised anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, including bipolar affective disorder, postnatal depression, eating disorders, substance abuse and acute psychiatric disorders. Programs are also offered for carers.

The program components include assertiveness training, stress management, relaxation therapy, cognitive therapy, dialectical therapy, anger management, grief and loss counselling, conflict resolution, building self-esteem, communications skills and creative therapy and physical activities.

Staff
Hyson Green’s success is built on the calibre and commitment of our people. That’s why we believe that our greatest asset is our staff. The team, led by Medical Director, Dr John Saboisky, comprises of consultant psychiatrists, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, dieticians and pastoral care staff. Their knowledge and skills are continually developed through an active program of education, peer review and supervision.

Information and Admissions
Hyson Green is located within the grounds of Calvary Health Care ACT adjoining Bruce/O’Connor Ridge. Canberra’s CBD is only ten minutes away, whilst Rotary Cottage (overnight accommodation for families or friends), Calvary Clinic, coffee shops and buses are only a short stroll away from Hyson Green.

Consumers are admitted to the hospital or day program under the care of a psychiatrist. Referrals are required from a general practitioner.

Hyson Green is a private hospital and costs associated with hospital admission or attending the Day Programs are covered by private health insurance. Consumers are advised to check with their health insurance fund to establish their level of cover. Non-insured patients may also arrange for cash payment.
